Filipino seafarers navigate the challenges of life at sea by staying connected with loved ones and forming deep bonds with their crewmates. Through shared experiences, cultural values like pakikipagkapwa, and a strong sense of camaraderie, they find comfort, resilience, and a sense of family amid distance and isolation.
The stereotype “pag seaman mayaman” suggests that seafarers are automatically wealthy, but by budgeting, saving for emergencies and retirement, and using government programs, seafarers can work toward financial stability and avoid common mistakes.
