BSMT (Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation) and BSMarE (Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering are courses that usually take 3 years in school, plus 1 year of onboard training. You will only obtain your diploma after completing both.

Onboard training is typically 12 months as a cadet; if you're not a cadet, you may need 36 months of onboard experience (check with your school or company). As part of your training, you will need to update the following (and both should be provided by your school):
Report to your Shipboard Training Officer (STO). Now, you have to pass an interview and exam to qualify for graduation.

3. Prepare OFW insurances and memberships (SSS, PAG-IBIG, OWWA).
Submit your diploma, IDs, and certificates. You'll be required to pass a medical exam, usually arranged or recognized by the company. Then, all you need to do is await the company's schedule for your onboard deployment!
